Singapore gets most major studio releases on time. Marvel, Disney, the big franchise films — they show up. But step outside the mainstream and release dates become a guessing game. Will One Battle After Another get a Singapore release? Paul Thomas Anderson's films usually do, eventually. What about The Phoenician Scheme? Wes Anderson is popular here, but his more eccentric work sometimes gets limited runs. And then there are the films that just won't come — the A24 releases, the foreign language winners, the mid-budget dramas that don't have a distributor in Southeast Asia. Filmhouse and SFS Somerset have started filling some of these gaps, but their capacity is limited.
